Dear Tea Party:
Priorities. That’s all I have to say.
P.S. Apparently that’s not all I have to say. The video shows that politicians need to cut out the shit with banning equal rights to gays, and instead focus on the shit that really matters. And guess what!? Your voters want you to fix our country and stop squabbling over petty social issues that you can’t win.

Coming from a state where gay marriages are legal, I think I may write a response post to this.
Love is love. If you’re in love with somebody, it’s all good. <3
I want that dude’s tricorner hat. The Tea Party should start a fashion show.
@Rainboxx - watchu reading?
Yes, our country is going bankrupt, more people are out of work than in the great depression and the government spending is akin to drunken sailors. How irresponsible and out of whack could these tea party people’s priorities be when they don’t seem to be all wrapped up in gay marriage. The title of this video is that they do not see harm from gay marriage. They obviously are awful people indeed.
@mtngirlsouth - You do realize that was the intent behind it, right? That the leaders should focus on the country and not banning marriage for certain groups of people.
@GodlessLiberal - You said, “Dear Tea Party: Priorities.”
So, you are saying that the leaders need to behave more like the Tea Party?
@RulerofMasons - Errr. I wonder why you ask.
- If it’s because of the comment, one of the folks interviewed in the video said that.
- If it’s because of my profile picture, that’s a book by Luanne Rice.
- If, for some reason, you’re just assuming that I’m the kind of girl who’s always reading a book or two, I’m currently reading
“Algebra and Trigonometry” by Leithold and “Ransom” by Julie Garwood.
@mtngirlsouth - I posted this to show that not all Tea Party members want their representatives to spend their energy passing discriminatory laws.
@GodlessLiberal - In that case, THANK YOU. Because I am so damn sick of the gay marriage spin I could puke. Let them do as they will with their free will and move on for goodness sakes!
Lol
god I wish I can turn you into my personal bunny. Your sweet
I don’t s@Rainboxx - ee what you see in krisko. Maybe your not confident in your physical appearance.
I am not a student of anything, but I think the so called TEA party and many Democrats, Republicans, and Independents are more concerned with our economy, budget, debt and jobs. While the gay rights issue gets some excited on both sides of the issue, it represents a small percentage of the population. All I know is that I had gays out of the closet who worked for me during my career and they were probably slightly better performers. I think for many, as this clip suggests, not too many really care that much either way.
Wow. And here in my state….they don’t give a shit about Nuclear energy, but say gay marriage…..hell breaks loose!
If that one guy with the Masons hat said “O Lord, my God, is there no help for the widow’s son” then we know there’s problems in New Hampshire.
So, what you’re saying is that allowing homosexuals to marry has NOT caused that state to sink into immoral depravities that would put Sodom & Gomorrah to shame? No sodomy in the streets? No exponential increases in child molestation? No one wanting to marry an animal? YOU’RE KIDDING!
The Tea Party shouldn’t even take a position on same-sex marriage.
If they are, as they claim, interested in the diminishment of government involvement, the size of the government, and the lowering of taxes, then social legislation should fall outside their realm of advocacy.
It seems to me that with the involvement of the likes of Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann, the Tea Party is becoming little more the right-most looney fringe of the Republican Party.
I’m confused. None of the tea party members interviewed seemed to care about inhibiting/helping gay rights. They’re generally more concerned with economics, right? Why is that a problem?
Maybe I misunderstood something in this post.
@escapist767 - It’s not a problem. These people show that our politicians don’t have to stand on the issue of banning gay rights, and can instead focus on what matters.
coffee party ftw
This is brilliant! Gay’s are tax payer’s just like all of us. The governmentâs duty is to act in the best interests of all its citizens..
My America right is to have marriage between a man and woman.
This is great! There are already plenty of things wrong with this country. Come 2012 we will take over the Senate and the White House and fix this country!
My America right is to have America rights applied to all people equally.
@Randy7777 - What? I haven’t laughed this hard in a while. You don’t even make any sense! My best shot at guessing what you mean is that you have a right as an American to force YOUR view of marriage on everyone? Regardless of what you think is correct, others think differently, and they have a right, precisely as Americans, to do what makes them happy, insofar as it does not infringe on anyone else’s rights, which was precisely the point of this post – that allowing homosexuals to get married if that makes them happy has no effect whatsoever on those who are heterosexual. No one’s telling you how to live your life…your point of view merely happens to be a more traditionally common one, but that hardly makes it the *only* viable alternative.
You probably didn’t get any of that. Oh, well.
@Curtis_Bell - Just like Dubya fixed it, right? LOLLL!
@In_Reason_I_Trust - Well, you guys have had poor presidents too. Wasn’t it JFK and LBJ who pushed us deeper into Vietnam?
@Randy7777 - Right, and this should be an issue decided by the states. I’m sure there are those in New York or California who disagree with us, and they are free to legislate according to their conscience. I just feel uncomfortable having my voice in the issue taken away by nine old judges or the United States congress.
@In_Reason_I_Trust - Glad I gave you a good laugh. I wonakt be the One who laughs last. Read Psalms 2:4 you may make fun of people now but a day will come when you won’t. Laughing at people’s view is a bullies way of making themself look big amongst smallnessn
@Randy7777 - I love how fundies code insult in scripture. Very Christ-like.
@Elegast - No insult intended by me – God will laugh at the attempt on man to discredit him. I just hope there are no humans to laugh at.
@Curtis_Bell - Interesting – The Civil War didn’t settle once and for all the states verses Federal power. Are we headed to another civil war? Obama seems to be waging war against the states.
I feel like there’s a disconnect between people who believe in the initial message of the Tea Party and the politicians who claim to lead the Tea Party plus their associated followers. Perhaps the former group should just go back to calling themselves Libertarians and save face.
