"Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansingher by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church." Ephesians 5:22-32
on a more serious note, i'll start taking Christian homophobia (because that's what it is) seriously when they work to ban divorce. my parents split up, and i guarantee you their marriage wasn't destroyed because a couple of gay guys want to get hitched.
@GodlessLiberal - No, it just doesn't seem to be a good sampling. You are missing commands like for husbands to love their wives, to provide for their families, be willing to lay their life down for their spouse, and so on. These things coupled with what you have listed, make a whole lot more sense. I hope people really do go and look up those verses because your info graphic does not tell the whole story.
@l_ORE - Right, but that's not what the graphic is trying to get across. People are using the Bible to argue against homosexual marriage. They deserve to know all the non-"traditional" marriages depicted in the Bible.
@GodlessLiberal - I actually think that polygamy is absolutely not the best route to take, but really the bible doesn't say anything against it in the NT other than that church leaders should be the husband of only one wife. (probably due to the demands having multiple wives would put on his time, keeping him from devoting it to the church)
