It is possible for you to make a difference regardless of the level you teach at. It comes down to which level you'd flourish at.

@spiraledflaw - I just don't feel like doing more school to get my PhD when teaching currently appeals to me more than research.

You can teach at a community college at the Assistant Professor level without a PhD. Those need better biology teachers for sure.
