  • An Honest Mitt Romney Ad

Ironically, this amalgamation of Mitt Romney soundbites cobbled together by master editor Hugh Atkin is the most honest thing we’ve heard from the Republican candidate this entire campaign season. Of course, you might think it’s unethical for someone to shape, mold, and distort Mitt Romney’s previous statements into whatever fits their current agenda. But then again, that’s exactly what Mitt Romney does.

  • Good speech.  Good speech.

  • clever but one doesn’t have to splice his sound bites to make the same point. Romney has not and does not want to discuss his record as Massachusetts Governor in part because of the abysmal unemployment record during his term there. he doesn’t want to discuss his company Bain Venture Capital although he initially claimed and still claims it’s the one reason to elect him. he doesn’t want to make his tax returns public in spite of pressure from his own party to do so. yeah, he’s hiding a lot. Romney has said he doesn’t want to reveal details of his economic plan because people will criticize it and find fault with it. Romney calls fact checkers “partisan” because they consistently find his policy claims to be misleading or out and out lies. the Washington Post gave him 4 Pinocchios on his lie that Obama has gotten rid of “work for welfare” and every other credible source has called his claim false. Romney says whatever he thinks an audience will want to hear. several years ago he said same-sex marriages should be allowed but now he says, “you have to understand who i sent that letter to” as he now opposes same-sex marriage.

in my 58 years i’ve never seen a presidential candidate with this weak a spine nor any candidate as willing to freewheel and lie to Americans. and guess who, after falsely accusing President Obama of “apologizing” to foreign countries, spent his first 3 nation tour as a candidate apologizing to all 3 plus the Palestinian’s who are not officially a nation.

but the far right is so willing to elect even this scum that they are willing to prevent Christian church goers from voting after church in order to get a Mormon elected.

good to see you posting again

  • @TheSutraDude - I’m really looking forward to the debates, which Obama rightly points out will not let Romney get away with not stating what he stands for any longer. I 95% believe Obama will win (100% with no extreme happenings shaking things up, like Israel invaded Iran/the Euro collapsed/Obama has been having sex with Oprah, etc) And I’m currently writing a post about how I haven’t been writing posts.

  • @TheSutraDude -  ”he doesn’t want to make his tax returns public in spite of pressure from his own party to do so.”

Speaking of which, Romney probably doesn’t want to release his tax records for 2009 because 2009 was an amnesty year. The IRS permitted citizens with offshore bank accounts to declare their accounts and avoid criminal prosecution. This is a fact that is strangely absent from the discussion about his unwillingness to disclose his tax records.

Honestly, given the political heat he is taken over his non-disclosure, as well as his willingness to only release his taxes for 2010 onward, this seems like the most likely scenario. It’s really the only thing that makes any sense.

  • @UTRow1 - during his failed run for a Senate seat in 2002 he lied about his tax returns. he said he filed in Massachusetts which he didn’t. it was only when his lie was about to be revealed that his campaign manager, the same on his campaign today admitted Romney lied. and in 2002 when he refused to reveal the tax returns he said the same he’s saying today…..you can trust me.

  • @GodlessLiberal - i’m looking forward to them too. it will be a disaster for this country on so many levels if Romney wins. my biggest concern at this point are the republican voter suppression laws and republicans in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida have said outright the new laws are intended to keep likely democrat voters from voting, particularly blacks and Hispanics but also college students and the elderly. i hope those groups are so pissed off that they vote more than ever.

i hope i catch your upcoming post

  • Doesn’t matter what he says, republicans will vote for him because he’s not Obama.

  • @brown_buffalo - ”not Obama” = “not black” in many cases.

  • @GodlessLiberal - I think there is more to it than that. This is like the perfect hate storm, there are a joining of several different hatreds going on here with Obama. The hate of intellectuals, the hate of liberals, the hate of progressive social agenda’s, the hate for skin color, the hate for all things that atheists like. I could go on.

  • on a related note when i was a kid i loved playing with tops. you know…the cone shaped things you wrap a string around, pull the string and the top spins on its point for minutes at a time. you’re probably wondering where i’m going with this so i’ll cut to the chase. i was in a toy store about to reach for a top from the shelf when an employee asked if i’d tried another particular brand of tops and pointed to one in a package branded “Sera”. i answered, “So you suggest i try Sera Tops?” that right there sums up my knowledge of dinosaurs.

pay no attention to this comment folks. i’ll grab my hat

  • @TheSutraDude - Ahahahahahahahaha….. nice.

  • I don’t have as much of a problem with this because a) it’s obvious what they’re doing, and b) the quotes accurately sum up his record/viewpoints.  It’s not the equivalent of quoting obama quoting mccain saying something embarrassing and pretending he was saying it himself.

  • @brown_buffalo - Hate of non-fundamentalists, hate of pro-choicers, etc too.
